How do you  cure a Yeast Infection??  Most people will find a cure for there Yeast Infection or Candida which is a type of an infection that is caused by a group of microscopic yeasts or fungi.  They usually develop under the breast, around dentures, in the vagina, nail beds, lower abdomen and beneath the skin folds.  They occur at any age but are more common as a person ages.

* As we all know, prevention is always the best cure. To prevent yeast infection, avoid taking birth control pills, antibiotics and steroids because they can weaken the immune system. Antibiotics can also kill the bacteria that are needed to prevent the overgrowth of yeasts.

* Douching can alter the natural pH of the vagina. Using of feminine deodorants can cause irritation to the female genital area. So these things must be avoided.

* Non-cotton underwear is not breathable since they are only made from man-made fibers.  It is advisable to use cotton underwear instead. Non-breathable underwear can trap the heat and moisture giving yeasts the perfect environment for them to grow and multiply.

* Clothing that are too tight in the crotch can produce an environment that is warm. Also, tight pantyhose and wearing of wet clothes or bathing suit for extended periods of time should be avoided as moist areas are perfect for yeast growth.

* Foods to avoid during a yeast infection attack are those that can actually feed the yeast such as refined foods, sugar, white flour, yeast, pasta, baked goods and breads, legumes, nuts and seeds, dairy products, alcoholic beverages and dried fruits.

* To prevent the growth and multiplication of the bacteria and fungi, always make sure that you keep the affected area clean. Moist area harbors bacterial growth, so it is also necessary to keep it dry.

* Before planning to take any medications, it is important to consult a doctor to make sure that the condition is really a yeast infection and not any other diseases that are similar to the nature of a yeast infection, such as Chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis.

* Commonly used antifungal medications for yeast infections are those that are inserted into the vagina such as suppositories, creams, ointments and tablets.  These medications include clotrimazole (Clotrimaderm, Canesten), butoconazole (Femstat), terconazole (Terazole), miconazole (Monistat, Monazole, Micozole), tioconazole (GyneCure) and nystatin. During pregnancy, the preferred medication is a single dose of fluconazole.

* For recurring and stubborn yeast infections, strong medications such as Diflucan may be prescribed by the physician. It is never wise to self prescribe since not everyone react well with certain types of medications.
